Late post, but maybe this will help. As soon as the game started doing this, I plugged in the 360 controller again and everything was fine. I have had no issues with this game whatsoever using the Xbox 360 controller, but when I tried to use the Xbox One controller, the game started stuttering after a few minutes, with the sound cutting out, and the game ultimately dropping to around 5 FPS.
