The only relevant difference between the two is the much higher impact power of the M16, vs. the ability to add a foregrip and stock on the M4 + auto fire mode. The feel of the gun and the option of burst firing do it for me. The M16A4 is a highly common weapon to find - but don't let that fool you. AFAIK, M16 much better at longer ranges accuracy-wise, M4 has far more attachment slots, and a fully-attached M4 is usually considered to be superior to the M16 unless you're tap-firing at long ranges, where the M16 shines compared to other rifles.
