His numerous albums include Hoodoo Man Blues (1965), Chiefly Wells (1986), and Alone & Acoustic (1991). Influenced by Sonny Boy Williamson and, especially, Walter Jacobs (aka "Little Walter"), Wells helped to define the sound of the harmonica in the 1950s, first with the Aces, a group fronted by him, and later with Buddy Guy and Muddy Waters . He was a prolific performer and recording artist from the late 1950s until well into the 21st century, and he enjoyed a resurgence of popularity beginning in the 1990s.
