Get Social! Ceph & Gluster are WILDLY different solutions to different problems. Re: Hadoop vs Ceph and GlusterFS Ceph and glusterfs are NOT centralized files systems. Every node in cluster are equally, so there is no single point failure in GlusterFS. HDFS is (of course) the filesystem that's co-developed with the rest of the Hadoop ecosystem, so it's the one that other Hadoop developers are familiar with and tune for.
